YAZ AND YASMIN ATTORNEYS

Yaz and Yasmin Attorneys:

The Law Offices of Jason W. Stern & Associates are now educating victims and potential victims about the wide array of dangers resulting from the Yaz and Yasmin contraceptives. These products have been linked to more than 50 fatalities that we know of.

Unlike most conventional contraceptives the Yaz and Yasmin oral contraceptives contain a harmful hormone called drospirenone not found in other pills. Drospirenone is a diuretic that causes unsafe levels of potassium in the body.

The Yaz and Yasmin defect:

Excessive potassium is known as “hyperkalemia” which causes harmful cardiac disturbances to occur such as deep venous thrombosis, strokes, pulmonary embolism and arrhythmia that can all prove fatal. The drospirenone hormone found in both Yaz and Yasmin has been linked to elevated potassium levels leading to the development of these life-threatening emboli in otherwise young, healthy women.

What did the Manufacturer do wrong?

Our firm has found strong evidence that Bayer either knew or should have known about the possibility of these fatal consequences in young, otherwise healthy women concerning their Yaz and Yasmin contraceptives. Furthermore, Bayer not only allowed these products to continue being sold on the market after learning of the dangers presented by their contraceptives but negligently misrepresented these products for non-FDA approved uses such as to treat PMS and chronic fatigue.

Despite overwhelming evidence Bayer continues to market Yaz as a suitable contraceptive for young women. A 2009 study in the British Medical Journal found women using Yaz 5 times more likely to develop potentially fatal blood clots and/or strokes.

To make matters worse for Bayer, the former FDA commissioner David Kessler testified in open Federal Court that Bayer knew and omitted these increased risks from its safety and analysis report of the drug.

As lead counsel of the Medical Malpractice and Products Liability Division of the Law Offices of Jason W. Stern & Associates, Peter Baron has recovered tens of millions of dollars on behalf of medical malpractice and negligence victims in both Federal and State Courts.
